Where it all started.....
On New Years Day 2011 Lucas decided to go to a pizza and volleyball activity that a friend invited him to. The friend failed to mention that they were also cleaning the church. It's a good thing he went anyway, because Stacia (being the RS president of the singles ward) was also there.
Stacia noticed Lucas and decided to go meet him. He was sitting on the stage in the church gym, so she walked over to him, chickened out, and just sat down next to him without saying a word! Lucas thought this was a little strange, looked over at her, and said, "Hey! How's it going?" This sparked enough conversation to break the ice.
A week later they saw each other at a stake meeting where they said "Hi" and talked briefly. The next week they talked a little on facebook where they exchanged numbers. They went to a regional YSA activity (again, volleyball) where they really started to get to know each other. The next day Lucas came to church in the singles ward and asked Stacia out for their first date.
Dating and falling in LOVE.....
The day of their first date was a blizzard! They went to Benihana and a movie. There was a connection there and they started seeing each other a couple times a week. This turned into them seeing each other most days, and eventually every single day.
They both love to let the kid inside them come out to play! This is something they both love about their relationship. Many of their dates included friendly wagers. Stacia usually lost and had to do things like make Lucas dinner or sketch a picture for him.
They were amazed at how easy it was to be around each other. It just felt so natural and right!
Marry me.....
Lucas decided to pop the question on his birthday. Stacia had the day off to spend with him. She surprised him in the morning with Inta Juice and cookies! They went to do some fun activities for his birthday, but everywhere they went it started to rain as soon as they got there. Since the weather was not cooperating, they went back to his house to play Wii for a while. They were in the middle of a game of Super Mario Brothers and acting like kids (laughing, yelling, and, yes, even calling each other names) when Lucas paused the game. Stacia said, "What are you doing?!" Lucas just laughed and said, "This is not at all what I had in mind, but for some reason, I can honestly not think of a better time..." He handed her a box with a ribbon around it. She wondered why he was giving her a present when it was HIS birthday, but he told her to just open it. Inside the box was a smaller box. She opened it and found the most beautiful ring inside!! (Lucas picked this out on his own with no input from Stacia. He has some GOOD taste!!) Lucas got down on a knee and proposed! (and of course she said YES!)
