3 Months

Our sweet Tyson turned 3 months old on April 15th. He is seriously the happiest baby I have ever seen. He loves to smile and laugh! He also thinks it is so funny when I change his clothes. Madilyn always hated having her clothes or diaper changed, and still does. Tyson, however, seems to think it's the greatest thing! Just like Madilyn, he hated his bath at first. Now he gets so happy and smiles and laughs through the whole thing. Unlike Madilyn, he hates having a dirty diaper and will let us know that he wants a clean one. 6 days after he turned 3 months, he rolled over for the first time. He does such a great job at tummy time and loves to kick.

We were able to spend some time in Colorado during Lucas's spring break. It was so great to see friends and family and we were able to have Tyson's baby blessing while we were there.

Madilyn loved Easter this year, now that she can actually hunt for eggs. We went to the Spanish Fork Egg Hunt and she had fun! We only got 3 eggs because all the parents were grabbing them for their kids while I was trying to let Madilyn do it, but oh well! She thought it was the greatest thing ever finding the eggs the Easter Bunny left at our house Easter morning. She was so excited when she opened up her eggs to find goldfish, teddy grahams, and M&Ms that she was shaking! The Easter Bunny also brought her a coloring book and a beach towel for the pool this summer. He brought Tyson a new outfit. Madilyn is obsessed with bubbles and cheese and has discovered how thrilling it is to go down a slide!

My 30th Birthday Surprise and 2 Month Boy

I have always thought it would be cool to have a surprise party, but I never thought I would get one. Little did I know, my husband had been planning one with my aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandma. I had NO idea, and the way it played out actually left me feeling stupid, but I did love the surprise!

The day before my birthday I had planned a family activity for us. We went and got some lunch at Zupas and then went to the art museum at BYU. We were on our way home when I saw my uncle's car on the freeway. They had seen us and thought they had blown the surprise, but really guys, I am not that smart! I just assumed they had some place to go down in our area. Lucas had ordered pizza to the house and it was supposed to get there well before us. Well, it didn't, and this is the part that really made me feel stupid! As we pulled up to the house there was a pizza delivery guy walking away from our door. I asked him who ordered pizza and he responded that the people who lived here did. I responded that we lived here and asked again who had ordered. He said the parents of the people who lived here ordered. I was getting frustrated and again told him that that would be US! Panic started to set in a little as I was wondering who was in my house. Who would do that? Who goes into someone else's house while they are gone and orders pizza? I think the pizza guy had seen the decorations and kind of knew what was going on, because he said, "If it helps, they were really nice people!" I am sorry to the poor pizza guy for freaking out on you! Please don't tell everyone you met a crazy lady today!

Lucas was doing an awesome job of playing along. He was acting upset that someone was in our house and convinced me to go inside with him to see what was going on. As we walked in, I was surprised by family! How did I not put the pieces together?? I mean, hello! I was turning 30 the next day!! I felt pretty dumb! Lucas was upset that the surprise had been ruined. Really, honey? I would say he pulled it off perfectly! I didn't have a clue it was happening! Thank you Lucas for putting so much into giving me a surprise party. It made me feel special! Trust me, I WAS surprised!

A week later, my little man turned 2 months old! He is such a happy baby! He loves to smile and laugh and try to talk to us! He is pretty much sleeping through the night consistently now and is growing like a weed! At his 2 month check-up he was in the 75th percentile for everything! He is wearing the size of clothes that Madilyn wore at 4 months. Tyson bring us so much joy and we are so blessed to have him!

And we can't forget to mention Miss Madilyn! She is learning like crazy! She can say so many words now. (Here's the part where I list words she can say and you skim over and don't read, but I am listing anyway for my own records!) She can say: please, thank you, love you, night, bubbles, ouch, uh oh, cracker, cheese, juice, shoes, hi, bye, baby, grandma, grandpa, diaper, up, down, purple, blue, green, hand, arm, eye, toes, no, yes, mouse, pretty, dad, mom, okay, yummy, bib, light

Madilyn loves to read books, color, go for walks, wash her hands, and help with Tyson. She loves to share and places toys all around Tyson while he is napping! She is practicing colors and the A B C's. She is also practicing saying prayers.

Lucas also went to Arizona for a golf trip with his dad, brother, and friends. We sure missed him, and are glad to have him back. After a hotel mix-up, he ended up at a motel that looked like the stuff horror movies are made of. It was seriously nasty! He would send us pictures and we would pray he didn't get some disease or attacked! At least he has a story to tell now! He brought Madilyn a little monkey that says "Phoenix" on it. She grabbed it and slept with it in her arms the whole night. It was so cute!

18 Month Girl and 1 Month Boy!

On the 15th of February Madilyn turned 18 Months and Tyson turned 1 month. The past month flew by so fast! Lucas's mom and sister were here for a few days after Tyson was born. A week later another one of Lucas's sisters came, along with 2 nieces, for a couple days. A week later my parents finally were able to come and meet the baby! It was so nice having everyone come and visit and help out, but it sure made time fly! My little newborn isn't a little newborn anymore! I have to cherish every moment!
Little Miss Madilyn is 18 months. She loves being a big sister! Every time I change Tyson's diaper, she insists on taking his dirty diaper to the trash. No, I did not teach her this, I'm just lucky! She is always trying to help with Tyson. One day I set him in his swing. Madilyn Picked up a blanket and set it on him, then kissed his head. It was seriously so cute! She loves to give him kisses and tell him "love you!" When we were at Costco he was fussing a little and she kept lifting the blanket on the car seat to talk to him and tell him she loves him.
Madilyn is learning new words like crazy! Her favorite words to say are love you, hi, up, uh oh, and please. She loves to play with her toys and take care of her baby dolls.

Mr. Tyson is such a joy! He is a sweet little baby who loves to cuddle! At 1 month he has started sleeping 5-6 hours a night. He loves to eat and can burp like Daddy!

(he spit up a little on his "T")

Baby Boy

When I was pregnant with Madilyn I ended up being induced because I was developing preeclampsia. It was only 9 days before her due date and I was not dilated or effaced at all yet. This time around I was a little surprised when at my 36 week appointment I was already 1.5cm and 50%. By my 37 week appointment I was 2cm and 70%. I was having contractions every day, just not in any patterns. My doctor gave me the option of bring induced once I made it to 39 weeks. I decided to go for it! After being induced with Madilyn I thought it was nice to already be at the hospital when things start to happen and not have all the guess work of if it was time to go in or not. We got on the induction schedule for the 15th of January. I was excited to deliver in the same hospital that I was born in!

We were very excited and Lucas's mom and sister flew in the day before. On the way to the airport to pick them up we got a call from the hospital that our insurance would not cover at that hospital. They said I was more than welcome to still deliver there, I would just have to pay the hospital portion out of pocket. This would only cost about $12,000.00!!!! I started panicking! I was supposed to have my baby the next day, but now I could not deliver where I had set up to deliver.

Lucas called our doctor and explained what was going on. Our doctor is awesome and pulled some strings so we could be on the induction schedule the next morning at a hospital that our insurance covers. Lucas and I started making jokes.... if we got shot and were in the ambulance on the way to the hospital, would we have to tell them not to go to the close hospital, but continue another 10 min up the road to the hospital that takes our insurance? Seriously, huge flaw in our healthcare system!

We were scheduled for 7am, but told to call just incase they got flooded overnight with women in labor and were full.  We got up at 5:30 and got ready. I called and they were full!! Now it was a waiting game. We finally got the call that they were ready for us to come in at 11:15!

Our last photo as a family of 3

We got to checked in and put in our room. By the time I got my IV and began the Pitocin, it was about 12:30.  Things started progressing and contractions were really kicking in. The nurse kept telling me I could get an epidural whenever I wanted, but I insisted on waiting until the contractions got strong so I would at least experience some of it. When I was in a lot of pain, I asked for the epidural. It took really fast and I soon had two dead legs! Even though my contractions were going strong, I seemed to get stuck at 4cm. At about 6:30 my doctor came in and broke my water, with hopes that it would get things progressing again. About 30-45 min later I was at 5cm. Yay! I was progressing again! I still had 5 cm to go, which should take awhile still.....or so I thought.....

My nurse was monitoring me closely because with every contraction the baby's heart rate would decelerate. This happened with Madilyn, too, and they inserted a probe into her head until she was born. They were going to do the same thing. Another nurse came in to ask my nurse if she needed help inserting the probe. She lifted my sheet to get things ready and said, "WOW! There is a head!!" They pressed the emergency button and about 6 nurses flooded into the room. My doctor was not even there and the nurse delivered my baby. The crazy thing is I didn't push at all! He just slid right out! I didn't even realize what was happening and mentally missed the whole thing!

My doctor arrived and fixed me up and I got to hold my sweet baby boy! Born January 15, 2015 at 7:28pm. 7lbs 12oz, 21.25 inches.

Christmas in Utah

This year for Christmas I was 8 months pregnant, so we had to stay put here at home. My parents were able to come out and spend Christmas and New Years with us. It was so fun to have them here and Madilyn became best buddies with them.

When we were at my parents house for Thanksgiving, they had marshmallow chairs for the grandkids to sit in. Madilyn thought they were so cool so we got her one for Christmas. When she was opening it, as soon as she saw what it was she let out a squeal! It was so cute!

She sat in it right away!

She didn't even want to get out of it to open the rest of her presents!

Our Christmas gift to each other this year was new carpet for our house! The previous owners had 4 cats! They went pee everywhere! Lucas also replaced our linoleum entry way with tile.
Here is the NEW!

Here is a glimpse of what the carpet throughout the entire house looked like underneath. Our house no longer smells like cat pee!!

We had a white Christmas this year!!!! Oddly enough, we haven't really had any other snow this season, other than small flurries.

While my parents were here we went to the Spanish Fork Festival of Lights. It was pretty and Madilyn loved all the lights!

We had my niece, June, with us for a couple days while my sister and her in-laws went to Arizona for the Boise State bowl game. The girls had so much fun together!

Christmas was different this year, but still so much fun! We got to make a couple of our own traditions and enjoy celebrating together! 2014 was very good to us and we look forward to a great 2015!

Halloween and Turkey Day

Lucas and I celebrated out 3 year anniversary in October. It was his year to plan and he took me by surprise. He arranged for my aunt and uncle to watch Madilyn over night and took me up to Salt Lake. We had dinner at Ruth's Chris (we ate at one on our honeymoon). We walked around Temple Square, went to the planetarium, and stayed at the Little America Salt Lake Hotel. It was a really old hotel that had been remodeled and it was cool! The people at Ruth's Chris treated us like royalty and had our table ready with rose petals, candle light, and a "Happy Anniversary" card. We ordered a special that came with a dessert, but since it was our anniversary, they said they wanted to buy us a regular dessert off of the menu. So, we took a nice, heavenly slice of cheesecake back to the hotel! The next morning we went and did a session at the temple!

Our first dessert, before they bought us another!

This year we decided to re-use our Mario and Luigi costumes we made a couple years ago. I made a Princess Peach costume for Madilyn so we all matched! I am really happy with how it turned out. (It is scary creating something without a pattern and hoping it turns out how it is in your head!) I had a hard time getting my costume on since I am pregnant this time around. I could not get the sides of the overalls buttoned, but it worked for the hour or so that I wore it.

We had fun carving pumpkins and making a monster door!

Daddy's pumpkin

Mommy's pumpkin
Madilyn's pumpkin

Madilyn thought it was cool that people kept coming to our door to trick-or-treat and she even tried stealing the candy out of the bowl. She spent most of the evening walking circles in our front room in between doorbell rings. She is such a determined little girl and when she learns something new all she wants to do is practice it over and over.

As the Halloween decorations went down and Thanksgiving went up, I realized I do not have many Thanksgiving decorations. I decided to make a "Give Thanks" banner, and since I do not have a mantle in this house, I hung it on the wall.

We were lucky enough to go to Colorado for Thanksgiving this year! Madilyn did an amazing job on the plane! We loved getting to see family and even got to do our Santa tradition with the Wastarts.

Madilyn loved playing with her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. It was fun to get her together with her cousin June since they are so close in age.

(I would have a cute picture of the two of them here, but they are all on my phone, which fell out of the diaper bag on the plane. Crossing my fingers that it gets back to me!!!)

She loved seeing Christmas trees at every one's houses and would point and excitedly say "Pitty!!" (pretty)

The trip seemed to go way too fast (we had hoped to be able to see more friends) and we were sad to say goodbye, but it is also good to be home!

Fall is Here!

Fall is my favorite time of year! I love the yummy smells (pumpkin and cinnamon), the cooler weather, watching football, and the BEAUTIFUL colors all around! I love wearing sweaters and snuggling up in blankets!

Here's a quick recap of what's been going on with us since Madilyn's Birthday, which is the last time I posted.

We had Lucas's sister, along with her kids, his mom, and niece all come out to visit over Labor Day weekend. We had fun with them and went up to Salt Lake again to take them to Temple Square It is always so nice to have family come and see us!

The day after they left, we had our ultrasound. The baby is very healthy and is a BOY! Lucas is so happy to have one of each now!

Madilyn discovered lemons and this video makes me laugh so much! She insisted on trying it and even wanted more afterward!

We decided it is time to start re-decorating this house to really make it our own. We started with the front room and we are really happy with how it turned out!

 BEFORE:

AFTER:

Spanish Fork doesn't seem to have as many parks as Thornton did, but we found a park that had a pretty flower garden! We decided to stop and take some pictures!

We made a family trip to the pumpkin patch! We were very happy with the selection and the prices! We got two big pumpkins and a smaller one for Madilyn. She loved all the pumpkins! When I set her down to take pictures with the pumpkins she just kept laughing and clapping her hands!

This pig was huge! They say he weighs 700 lbs!

Madilyn was a little freaked out in the straw maze.

She loved walking through the kid size straw maze, though!

Here is my 25 week belly!

And this video is from a couple months ago, but it needed to be shared!!!
